Installing a cable management bracket organizes cables efficiently and ensures proper routing in server racks or network equipment.

Selecting the Bracket

Choose a cable management bracket that matches your rack depth and type. For example, wider bars are used in shorter racks (like 7014-T42), while shorter bars fit deeper racks (like 7965-S42) . Ensure the rack has sufficient clearance and no conflicting hardware, such as earthquake kits or additional customer equipment, which may prevent installation .

Preparing the Rack

1. Identify the mounting location on the rack flange.
2. Use a sticker or pen to mark the screw positions on the inside of the rack flange .
3. Confirm that the bracket aligns with the marked locations before attaching.

Assembling the Bracket

1. Attach the cable management bar to the bracket using the provided M3 screws .
2. For vertical or horizontal managers, ensure the D-rings, bend radius fingers, or brush strips are properly oriented for cable routing .

Installing the Bracket

1. Hold one side of the assembled bracket against the rack flange at the rear of the rack.
2. Insert screws through the rack flange into the bracket, typically three screws per side, using the middle holes of the EIA units .
3. Repeat for the opposite side to secure the bracket firmly.
4. For brackets mounted on equipment faceplates (like MIO/UMIO cards), secure cables with cable ties or hook-and-loop straps .

Routing and Securing Cables

• Feed network or power cables through the bracket or tray.
• Use cable ties, hook-and-loop straps, or removable D-rings to organize cables neatly.
• Ensure cables are not bent beyond their minimum bend radius to prevent damage .

Tips for Efficient Installation

• Having two installers can simplify handling and alignment, especially for larger brackets or trays .
• Verify that the bracket does not interfere with doors, panels, or other rack-mounted equipment.
