  • Connect the transmit (TX) port of the transceiver to the receive (RX) port of the peer device, and vice versa

  • Check the link/activity LEDs on the network device to confirm proper communication
  • Optionally, use an optical power meter to measure signal strength and ensure it is within the transceiver's specifications

Step 6: Maintain and Protect

  • Replace dust caps on unused transceiver ports to prevent contamination
  • Keep fiber connectors clean using lint-free wipes and isopropyl alcohol
