Working principle of optical fiber cables

Signal Transmission Process

  1. Conversion: Electrical signals are converted into light pulses using a laser diode or LED at the transmitter end.
  2. Propagation: Light pulses travel through the fiber core, guided by total internal reflection.
  3. Reception: At the receiver end, a photodetector converts the light pulses back into electrical signals.
  4. Amplification and Decoding: The received signals are amplified and decoded into digital or analog form as required ( ).
