Components of a Distribution Box

• Three-Phase Systems: Used in industrial or large buildings, with three live wires (L1, L2, L3). Load balancing across phases is critical to prevent instability .
• Wire Color Codes: Follow local standards. For IEC: Brown = Live, Blue = Neutral, Green/Yellow = Earth. For NEC: Black/Red = Live, White = Neutral, Green/Bare = Earth .

Installation and Safety Practices

• Placement: Install in dry, accessible areas with good ventilation, typically around 1.5 meters above the floor .
• IP/NEMA Ratings: Choose enclosures based on environmental exposure to dust and moisture .
• Wire Sizing: Match wire gauge to breaker rating to prevent overheating and fire hazards .
• Connection Tightness: Use torque screwdrivers to secure terminals to manufacturer specifications .
• Labeling and Documentation: Clearly label circuits and maintain wiring diagrams for maintenance and troubleshooting .

• Place the main switch on the far left, followed by RCDs, high-power breakers near the source, and low-power breakers on the right to manage heat .
• Ensure each circuit has its own protection device and avoid undersized breakers .
