ADSS Cable Suspension Fittings

ADSS (All-Dielectric Self-Supporting) suspension fittings are used for movable suspension of optical fiber cables on towers and poles. Key components include:

  • Armour Grip Suspension Clamp: Composed of helically formed rods, a concave Neoprene insert (two halves), and a clamp body. The rods grip the cable at the suspension point, and the clamp body prevents axial displacement of the cable, ensuring secure support under tension .
  • Avibra Vibration Dampers: Helically formed plastic rods that dissipate wind-induced vibrations. One section of the helix has a smaller diameter to attach securely to the cable, while the remaining length allows differential motion to reduce cable oscillations .
  • Helical Dead Ends: Designed for full tensioning of metal-free optical fiber cables in medium and long spans, providing strain relief and anchoring at terminal or corner towers . ADSS fittings are available in multiple designs to accommodate different pole/tower spans and types, and the pre-stranded wire clamps can achieve over 95% of the cable's ultimate tensile strength without stress concentration .

OPGW and Fiber Optic Suspension Fittings

OPGW (Optical Ground Wire) suspension fittings are engineered to support optical fibers while handling mechanical loads:

  • FIBERLIGN Suspension: Uses structural reinforcing rods (SRR), outer rods, housing halves, and resilient inserts to reduce compression, clamping, and bending stresses on the cable. Hardware components can be reused if in good condition, while SRR and outer rods are single-use .
  • Mechanical Suspensions (Single and Double): Lightweight assemblies that support vertical, transverse, and longitudinal loads, as well as angle pulls, without damaging cable strands. Breakaway bolts ensure proper torque during installation, and the design allows fast installation across varying line angles .
